The Idea
I'm thinking about creating an online writing studio for women (and those identifying as women) who are feeling a pull toward writing and are ready to spend more time doing it.
This is for the woman who:
may have been feeling this pull toward writing for a long time, maybe even for most of her life, and for whatever reason she’s been having trouble making space for it; she’s been pushing it aside for other things, other people
holds an idea for a story, or for her own story, that she’d like to try to tell, it’s a small flame inside that will not leave her alone
feels a longing to express herself, to uncover her thoughts, stories, memories; she has a feeling that doing so will unlock something inside
understands that the more voices that are being silenced, the more we must speak out
I want to offer a place with inspiration, structure, and community for women to finally write what’s been calling them.
Writing to me is about being alive. It’s about self-expression and self-empowerment. And I believe that giving voice to and sharing our stories is one of the ways we change the world.
I’m wanting to see if I can find at least 11 people out there (in addition to myself <3) who might say ‘yes’ before I build anything…So this is me, asking you directly, before any of that exists….:)
Here is what my idea looks like:
We meet twice a month for two hours for a facilitated writing workshop, offering us writing inspiration, sharing, and affirmation.
We have a daily (Mon-Fri) hour of co-writing, offering us a consistent space and gentle accountability
I could see this as an ongoing monthly program so we can all make some progress on our projects and creative work, but for now I suggest we try it for a single month and see how we all feel about it.
$45 USD/month — This is the founding price, meaning if I need to raise it later, you keep this rate as long as you stay.
Here’s where this could go - possibilities for the future…
Since I’m in experiment mode, I’m trying to keep the initial iteration of this simple for me and for others, but I have some ideas about what might want to happen if we get enough people together and everyone wants to keep going…
A few ideas include:
Weekly shared intuitive energy readings with a focus on creativity
Guided meditations for the inner writer
End of month open Q&A/mentoring where you can bring your writing questions
Popup writing sessions/sprints to oracle cards (I have a lovely set from Corporeal Writing) or journaling prompts
A monthly workshop focused on craft or some specific element of writing (poetry playshop, mining memories, automatic writing, etc.)
Possible move to a platform where there can be community and communication (not Facebook)
A portion of the proceeds going to support marginalized voices
The reason I'm feeling this out with words like ‘ideas’ and ‘maybes’ and … is that I’m trying to assess if it’s looking viable for me to get to that 11 people…If it is, I’ll quickly move to implementation, ideally mid-April.
What do you think?
Would you be interested in something like this? Might you know someone it might be for?
Here’s a simple form for you to fill out and share your thoughts. I’d only contact you if you let me know you might be interested:

Lovely Words from Others
“Before starting the writing group, I wondered if I had anything to write about and would it be worth reading out loud. Diane’s prompts generated endless ideas and got the creative juices flowing. The supportive structure of the sessions made sharing our work aloud painless and something I grew to look forward to. I now have a consistent writing practice and find joy and clarity from it everyday.”

“I feel much more easeful with my writing after our time together. This experience really helped bolster my confidence as a writer. It took the pressure off of having to hold my own container, so that I could just focus on the most important thing: writing. Knowing that these parameters free the writer within, I am encouraged about the path that lies ahead for my writing.”

“Before the writing group experience, I only dreamt about writing. I had pretty negative thoughts/feelings about my skill, topics, and style. I didn't trust myself or the process. So I didn't write. Now I know that when I simply start writing, something will pop up. I can recognize the inner senses of when I'm on and off track ... and I know that ALL of that is part of the process. I'm also able to recognize the thoughts that keep me from writing and can better follow my instincts.”
