If you’re anything like me, you’re longing for a world that doesn't yet exist, but should
We yearn for a world that celebrates diverse perspectives and experiences. One that values each and every human being on this planet, regardless of their beliefs or the color of their skin, regardless of their nationality, their class, their ability, or who they love. A world that elevates care for our bodies, souls, and minds, and one that mothers our earth and all our plant and animal friends equally.
A world that honors our common humanity
We want a world that prizes beauty and truth, and one that allows space for softness and sorrows. A world that believes in self-expression and self-empowerment and in building them through community care.
We want a world that recognizes the Love that weaves everything together.
Yet we see the injustice and hatred and destruction surrounding us
We are encircled by those in power who seek division and disenfranchisement. We watch them elevate some, at the expense of everyone else. We see them amass and extract and exploit. We know they twist the truth and celebrate the cruelty.
It’s heartbreaking; and at times, it feels overwhelming.
And still deep down, you know you have something good to offer
Even though you might feel unsure or it may feel impossible, you know you have some gift to offer this world—something, no matter how big or small, that will make this a better place.
Perhaps it’s a story you want to write to spark a connection or share your wisdom. Perhaps it’s a creative act project to bring more beautify or solve a problem. Maybe you have a community group you’d love to found.
Maybe it’s dream that you’d like to make happen, or an experience you’d like to lead and offer to others.
Your voice matters
Intuitively we understand that the more voices that are being silenced, the more we must speak out. The more we must show up as our true selves.
The problem is that as women we’ve been socialized to do exactly the opposite.
Most of us have been taught in a thousand different ways since birth to keep quiet, to stop making so much noise. We’ve been told to make our very selves smaller and to focus on the superficial. We’ve been taught we need to earn love or acceptance by being nice, by being good. And in return we’ve been given false flattery, without ever fully realizing how this supports the status quo.
I believe that giving voice to and sharing ourselves is one of the ways we change the world. I also believe that we’re not meant to do this alone.
Diane’s Place is a place with inspiration, structure, and community for women to finally do what’s been calling them.
“This is precisely the time when artists go to work. There is no time for despair, no place for self-pity, no need for silence, no room for fear. We speak, we write, we do language. That is how civilizations heal.”
Hi, I’m Diane, and this is Diane’s Place.
I created this place as part of finding my own way back home. I continue to work at remembering who I was before culture, conformity, and capitalism told me who I was supposed to be.
The work I do with other women on finding self-expression, purpose and power is part of my own sacred coming home.
In these times of increasing chaos and crisis, what I know for sure is that when women begin to gather and step into their own power—through self-discovery, shedding the lies they’ve been told, and offering their gifts to the world—this world, bathed in both brokenness and beauty, becomes an infinitely better place.
