It's Finally Here

My poetry collection has arrived!

It's been just over a year since Shanti Arts contacted me to say they wanted to publish my poetry book, Desert Heart.

It was late January 2025, and I sat stunned, looking at that email and not quite believing the good news. Days later I held a publishing contract in my hands.

In the months following, I polished the manuscript and reviewed proofs from the editor. I found a gorgeous print by a Vermont artist that captured the essence of the collection, and it was designed into a stunning cover. I asked several people if they’d be willing to read the manuscript and provide reviews. I shaped a way to share the book with others that feels perfect, despite defying almost every marketing maxim I’ve ever seen.

All along, there have been moments of excitement and of bewilderment, moments of remembering and forgetting.

I've had the dream of getting a book published for as long as I can remember; that dream once felt so tender and so impossible that I hid it even from myself. It’s taken me some time to catch up to the fact that it’s happened.

Last week I finally held a copy of the book in my hands.

And the book itself, I think, reflects the journey of trusting my wiser self and following where it led. The collection explores themes of presence, calling, voice, genius, and a return to the deeper self.

I see now that I've written it for me and for anyone else on a journey to find their way back home.

This link (and the button below) will take you to the book’s page on my website. It has more information about Desert Heart, a spoken word piece, reviews, and links to purchase if you decide you’d like to.

I'd be grateful if you took a look at it, and even more so if you decided to buy a copy.

I'm planning a celebration where you and others will be invited to gather together for an experience in the spirit of the book. I’ll share more information about that soon too.

In the meantime, thank you for being here, and thank you for sharing this special moment with me.
