For You, In The New Year

Tomorrow we enter the new year - a lovely day for offerings blessings, for sending good wishes to you and your loved ones.

Below is John O'Donohue's lovely poem, "Beannacht" from his book To Bless the Space Between Us. May its words wrap you in warmth and guide you on your journey back home.

Beannacht: A Blessing for the New Year

β€œOn the day when
The weight deadens
On your shoulders
And you stumble,
May the clay dance
To balance you.

And when your eyes
Freeze behind
The grey window
And the ghost of loss
Gets in to you,
May a flock of colours,
Indigo, red, green,
And azure blue,
Come to awaken in you
A meadow of delight.

When the canvas frays
In the currach of thought
And a stain of ocean
Blackens beneath you,
May there come across the waters
A path of yellow moonlight
To bring you safely home.

May the nourishment of the earth be yours,
May the clarity of light be yours,
May the fluency of the ocean be yours,
May the protection of the ancestors be yours.

And so may a slow
Wind work these words
Of love around you,
An invisible cloak
To mind your life.”

Wishing you a year full of love and the richness of life.

A Small Look Ahead

I'm not entirely sure when this will be ready to share more widely, but for now, I want to say that I'll be offering something soon - the opportunity to write together again next year. Whether you want to write because you have something you're longing to say, because you want to know yourself better, or because you sense creating new stories has the power to transform, you are welcome to join me in Diane's Place. More to come in the new year. <3
